DTC Analytics Maturity Model

Why This Matters
DTC brands generate more data than most enterprises. The problem is not access. It is structure. Shopify gives you orders. Ad platforms give you spend. Klaviyo gives you opens. None of it is naturally consistent.

The trap is skipping to Level 4.
Most brands want to jump from dashboards to predictive models. Predictive models trained on incomplete tracking or unvalidated attribution do not fail loudly. They fail by producing confident targets that move budget in the wrong direction. Fix your weakest dimension first. Everything downstream depends on it.
Our Take
Most brands overestimate their level. They have dashboards, so they assume they are mature. If decisions still happen in spreadsheets or gut feel, you are still early. You just have more charts.
Your weakest dimension is your ceiling. A brand with Level 4 lifecycle but Level 1 tracking is still a Level 1 brand. The weakest link breaks first.
Do not confuse attribution with truth. Attribution is useful for speed inside digital. It does not prove incrementality. When the decision is expensive, validate it with a test.
Analytics maturity is ownership. If you can rebuild the metric from raw data, you can trust it. If you cannot, you are renting it from a vendor who might define things differently tomorrow.
